The BioActiveScreen Center is a Research Infrastructure aiming at providing a cutting-edge research environment for screening plant-derived extracts towards the identification of novel bioactive compounds with high added-value.
The infrastructure comprises of three platforms:
- an Extraction and Fractionation Facility (EFF)
- a Facility for Chemical Identification (FCI)
- a Facility for High Content Analysis of Bioactive Compound Profiling (HCABCP)
The Center also maintans a Biomolecules/Chemical Compounds Collection with special emphasis on compounds of local geographical interest.
The Center operates in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG), of Democritus University of Thrace in Alexandroupolis Greece and is the only research infrastructure in Northern Greece that combines all these facilities in a single location.
